discussing every pink "web color"
i was looking at one of my personal favorite wikipedia articles, "shades of pink", and i had the impulse to share my thoughts on the shades of pink discussed in the article.
after reflecting on it for a moment—or rather, while i made a simple color swatch template and thought about how i was using my time—i decided to just limit it to the named X11 colors, or "web colors", because they are plain English keywords you can use in CSS.
as someone who is very passionate about the color pink, here are my personal, very subjective opinions about these colors.
pink

now, that's a pretty good shade of pink. platonic ideal shade of pink to me. if someone said they were giving me a pink item, and it was this exact shade of pink, i would be very happy. extremely good.
light pink

ironically, slightly darker than pink, despite being labeled lightpink. regardless: this is also a good shade of pink. very ideal.
hot pink

hotpink
so here is my sheepish confession. for how much i love pink, i don't actually like hot pink that much. maybe it's just too overstimulating for me, or maybe i'm still resentful that hot pink was, seemingly, the only shade of pink that existed in the late 00s. this isn't a very hot "hot pink", though. there's hotter pinks out there.
deep pink

now THIS is "hot pink". this is still too intense for me, though. no, it's not for the faint of heart. this is a pink for people stronger than i... for intense, stimuli-seeking individuals. also: i think this color probably tastes like a tropical berry punch, with a tangy hibiscus note.
misty rose

this doesn't have "pink" in the name, but "rose" is often used to refer to shades of pink. it's an off-white tinged with pink. this is the kind of color i usually gravitate towards when i need an off-white. not exciting, but it's soft and warm. i like it.
pale violet red

palevioletred
one last, not-technically-pink footnote. "pale violet red" sounds like someone who really didn't want to just say the word "pink" again, and tried to think of something else. that being said: big fan of this color. softer, and more muted than a hot pink, but more vibrant than the more pastel pinks discussed earlier. this is the kind of color i always gravitate towards when i'm looking at a range of blushes or lipstick colors. and also, usually the color i try to aim for when i re-dye my hair. a very tulip-coded sort of color.
